Black Torrington Parish Council

Black Torrington Parish Council is a harmonious blend of newer Councillors (including the Chair and Vice-Chair) and those with more experience. We also appointed a new, experienced Clerk at the end of May 2018. Elections take place every four years, with the next being in May 2023.

The activities of Parish Councils fall into three main categories: representing the local community, delivering services to meet local needs, and improving quality of life and community well being. We can comment on Planning Applications within the Parish, with ultimate decisions being taken by Torridge District Council.

The Council meets every two months in the meeting room at Hope Chapel. Parishioners are welcome to attend and are given 20 minutes at the beginning of each meeting to ask questions, or to bring issues to the attention of the Council.

The Parish Council are fully committed to the new Transparency Code regulations for small Authorities like ourselves.
